Yael LERER
Candidate for the legislative election in the 8th district of French nationals living abroad (Israel/Palestine, Italy, Greece, Turkey, Cyprus, Malta)
Endorsed by NUPES
Born in Tel Aviv, where I grew up, naturalized French in 2016, I am now a candidate to advocate for you as a member of the Assemblée Nationale, representing the 8th district of French people living abroad.
Feminist, environmentalist, longtime activist for justice and equality, I am cosmopolitan and a polyglot like many of you: I am fluent in French, Hebrew, Arabic, and English. My life has always been at the intersection of culture and politics. Among other things, I created the Andalus publishing house, which published Arabic literature in Hebrew. I also participated in the founding of the Balad Party, for which I was Spokesperson and Parliamentary Attaché.
Above all, I am an activist on the ground and in practice. All my life I have accompanied people to assert their rights on a quotidian basis, and this is the primary concern of my political engagement.
As a member of the Assemblée Nationale, I will work for the improvement of consular services, for the accessibility of French schools in the countries of the constituency, for tax justice, for pension rights, to increase budgets for social services, to facilitate administrative procedures abroad or when returning to France, and will be at your disposal for all daily matters that concern you.
Indeed, the role of the representative is to serve the fellow citizens of the constituency, regardless of their affiliation, while defending the political convictions for which she was elected.
My candidacy offers French citizens living abroad the opportunity to uphold the values of the Republic; to work together, for equality, for freedom, for justice, but also for the French model of the rule of law, of culture, of a land of asylum, social security, retirement, social housing, and integration. I am campaigning so that these achievements do not deteriorate in France, but also so that they can be extended everywhere else.
It is also a binational candidacy, representing immigrants and expatriates of all persuasions, including French people who often belong to the second or third generation of another immigration, from a country to which they still have ties. I would like to take another look at the issues of immigration and integration with regards to our common values and international solidarity.
This is a candidacy for social and cultural diversity, for dialogue, bilingualism, exchange, and for secularism, respecting the personal choices of each citizen.
Elected by you, I will work to assert solidarity with the movements against the changes to the judicial system in Israel, for the defense of democratic gains in Turkey, in the fight against the Italian far right, but also the peaceful resistance against the occupation, separation, escalation of conflict, and against the realities of any country where there are multiple systems of law that apply to different groups of the population.
Since its creation in 2012, the 8th district has been represented by elected officials who presented themselves as spokespersons for the Israeli government. For my part, I will be the spokesperson for all the citizens of the constituency and for the values of the Republic, everywhere and for everyone.
IN THE ASSEMBLÉE NATIONALE I WILL WORK FOR THE FRENCH PEOPLE IN THE 8TH DISTRICT:
For the improvement of consular services; for a return to the abolition of the diplomatic corps. For freedom of movement; for the right to settle elsewhere and to return there without administrative obstacles.
To facilitate administrative procedures abroad – for their digitization, while keeping the possibility of human contact. To reintegrate telephone services and to reduce the time for making appointments.
To facilitate the return to France, particularly for lower-income families – easier access to social housing, elimination of the waiting period to access social services, priority registration in public schools.
For the accessibility of French schools in the countries of the constituency; against tuition hikes, for the expansion of free education, and to prioritize non-profit education.
For the recognition of foreign diplomas, which should be more of a bridge than a barrier.
For the improvement of access to pension rights, both abroad and when returning to France.
For increased public budgets and the strengthening of social protections; for greater awareness of measures to combat violence against women; to advocate for LGBTQIA+ rights. To fight against tax evasion, against double taxation, and for progressive taxation. For tax equality, and for the exemption from CSG-CRDS for French people living outside Europe.
